Mr. K.P.S.
I thank you very much for
your kind letter of February 28, congratulating me on the award of Padmabhushan by our
revered President. I am happy that friends like you are feeling genuinely happy over this
award. I am grateful to Providence for whatever is given to me.
I have great pleasure in
enclosing an invitation for the Foundation-Tablet ceremony for the Allagappanagar
Polytechnic to be performed by the Governor of Kerala. This institution was inaugurated by
Sri. P.S. Rau last year with Civil Engineering and is located alongside my textile mills
in Kerala. I am happy to state that the Government of India have sanctioned Mechanical and
Electrical to this Polytechnic from the next academic year. My Educational Trust is
naturally proceeding ahead with the building programme to house the equipment and the
lecture classes of the Polytechnic. The Second Five Year Plan needs both Degree Graduates
and Diploma holders in the Engineering line for its proper fulfilment; and hence, it is my
privilege to start this Polytechnic apart from .the Engineering College and the other
Polytechnic at Karaikudi, both of which were inaugurated by our revered President, Dr.
Rajendra Prasad. I shall be grateful for your good wishes and a short message which can be
read on the occasion.
My health continues to be
what it was with very slight improvement which permits me to be in a wheeled chair for a
couple of hours every day. God is great in that thought one- finds the greatest happiness.
With kindest regards to
Mrs. Menon and yourself,
