Dear Mr.
Samuel Mathai,
Many thanks for your kind letter of 30th November. I am sorry I could not write to you
earlier. Since 6th December I am confined to bed under treatment which I am told will have
to last for nearly three months. That is God's will. 1 hope the 'excuse' which you have
referred to in your letter will come before long. It might be of some interest to you to
know that in pursuance of a move from my educational Trust, backed upby the Government of
Madras and the Madras University, the Central Government have addressed a communication to
me asking for certain details regarding the establishment of a Central University of
Karaikudi. I hope by God's will this idea will assume shape before long and I do earnestly
hope that it will be given to me to receive from you and your Commission both ideas and
assistance. respective of this latter objective being realised my request to you to come
over to Karaikudi is as cordial as ever.
With best wishes,
