Dear Sri
Sitarama Reddiar,
I am afraid I have a
feeling of having woke up after a dream; the author of the mischief for that dream was in
fact, I find, no other than~ the friend to whom I am writing this letter. Both in prospect
and in retrospect, the grand idea of the Foundation of the Research Institute at Karaikudi
was truly noble and exhilarating. The actual function was even grander, and every one of
the vast multitude that gathered walked away with the one impression of sheer delight at
the perfection of the function. Please accept my humble gratitude for the unlimited
affection and love that you have all along shown to me and, more than that, in my cause.
My only prayer is that the great cause so nobly started under such fine~ auspices will be
followed up by quick and energetic work in the completion of the structure
