May i acknowledge with thanks receipt of the documentation you kindly forwarded to me concerning the educational trust bearing your name, and the ceremonies at the laying of the foundation tablet of Alagappa Polytechnic. I have read this with the greatest interest and will be glad to include a note on it in the next issue of our quarterly Bulletin to be published in February.

I would like to take this opportunity of offering the warmest good wishes of the International Association of Universities to you for the future success of the important educational work which you are carrying out in India.

Dear Dr. Alagappa Chettiar,

I am sorry to read in the papers about the passing of Dr. T. Vijayaraghavan, the Director of our Ramanujan Institute of Mathematics. In his death we have lost a savant in Mathematics and the Institute Is distinctly poorer for this loss. I do not know the address of any of the members of his family and so, I request you to convey to them my heartfelt condolences and sympathy on their sad bereavement.
